    very inspiring…., March 9, 2011

As a 23yo college graduate being thrusted into an unforgiving world and a “every man for himself” economy, this book reminded me to stay focused and rooted as a happy human being amidst life’s obstacles. Although a bit philosophical at first, this book is filled with moments that make the reader reflect on his/her life and bring light to what truly matters to a human; their dreams. I found the story very fast paced yet straight to the point in the meaning of certain events; which I highly appreciated. The reader is taken on an ambigous roller coaster of a man (Julio Lambert) whose suicide attempt was intercepted by an astranged man (Dreamseller)that teaches him the importance of his life and his dreams and ultimately how to “sell” dreams to others. There is a slight twist in the end, but upon finishing I was left with a renewed outlook on life; almost like a breath of fresh air. I definitely encourage others to read this book; especially those who feel a bit lost/uncertain at this point in his/her life.

How can this possibly be an international bestseller?, September 19, 2011

I’ve never felt compelled to write a review for a book before. But this book is so mindbogglingly bad that I had to take a few moments and explain my frustrations. Maybe this is a writing style that I am not familiar with and have trouble appreciating. I simply cannot believe this book is an international bestseller.
Ok, here is my main complaint. The word that stays at the top of my mind as I read this book was “Contrived”. There is not a single character in this book that feels remotely genuine or even slightly plausible. I have read plenty of fantastic stories about outlandish places, creatures, magical occurrences, etc.. that can seem perfectly believable and suck you into the story. That is one of the best things about reading a good book. This book has none of that.
The narrator (main character)is always telling us how profound and earth shaking the words of the Dreamseller are, but the actual things he says simply do not seem terribly impressive or inspired. We have to trust the narrator that the cliche ham-fisted philosophical double talk is apparently stunning to the two dimensional characters that inhabit this book.
Here is the best I can possibly do to explain what the characters of this book are like. There is a spam e-mail that has been going around for years about a cliche intellectual atheist bully professor who is put in his place by a religious student who seems to have the perfect examples to both stump and shame the professor into silence. here is a link to the story on snopes – [...]
This whole book is like a long version of that spam email. People simply do not interact this way. It feels false as you read it. The ideas presented simply are not that jaw droppingly awe inspiring and life changing. Only in a world of pollyanna imbeciles could the Dreamseller of this book hold any sway.

I’ll say it one more time – How can this possibly be and international bestseller???

I loved The Dreamseller! I was hooked from the first couple of pages. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel[s]. I have already recommended this book to friends and will continue to do so.
