Question by toggletog: Can I reinstall windows seven upgrade version on a new harddrive?
I am upgrading the HDD my OS runs on to an SSD and was wondering if it would be possible to reinstall my “upgrade” version of windows seven directly onto the clean SSD then remove it from my HDD?

sure can, it is called cloning. wether it is HHD or SSD it doesn’t matter.

The directions on this site are for Vista, but will work for Windows 7 as well.

the upgrade must have an original os installed to upgrade to. If there already is one on the hard drive, then you may upgrade, or possibly you may have to insert the disc of another microsoft product/os to prove you have an upgradeable system in order for the retail final version to load.
