Re: Best/Cheapest Netbook that works with Backtrack 4?
Backtrack 4 compatibility is not much different with the systems on which you can use linux. In simple words, you can installBacktrack 4 on any of the notebook that supports Linux. Only the condition is that you must have the Wi-Fi card that supportmonitor mode. Several reasons can motivate you to install a wireless network adapter to solve this problem there is not 36 solutions, or your card is compatible with Linux or it does not. If it is not, buy one that is (about 20 €). Moreover, it is preferable that it is able to perform a listen on a wifi network (promiscuous or monitor mode).

Just buy any laptop and install Backtrack 4. If there is any problem, go and guy a USB wlan card because it has good antenna. At operation, your card must have a chipset that is recognized and managed by various open source projects (wlan, prism54, madwifi …), as Backtrack, it goes very quickly, since all those projects are installed and so if Your card is in their list, it will be recognized directly.
Re: Best/Cheapest Netbook that works with Backtrack 4?
I’m working right now with an Asus EEE to 1201N. No worries for installation, except that it must not cum inside for managing partitions and Grub config if you also use other host system. Only the wifi does not work at first, but you can install the drivers. Once the chipset recognized, these projects will take care of putting inplace the systems necessary for the proper functioning of your network card. In order not to rewrite what is already seen on the Net, you will find links to commands, and case-specific wireless cards.
Re: Best/Cheapest Netbook that works with Backtrack 4?
I searched a bit on the compatibility BackTrack 4 <-> EEE PC (ASUS). I read that the EEE PC 901 & 1000 are compatible (the 700 is also compatible). For new models, I read that the ASUS Eee PC 1101HA was a compatibility problem with BackTrack (and even linux I think). For the rest, wait a bit … or take a risk.
