  • What should I study before starting the Cisco Academy?

I’m going to take the Cisco Academy CCNA classes next year. My reason for starting next year is because I dropped out of high school (yeah I know, I’m an idiot for doing that!) and need to make up credits to get my diploma. I’m also looking for a job that way I’ll have money for books and stuff. What I want to know is what should I study and teach my self before starting school?

    I’m taking the CISCO course next semester because I’m studying to become a system analyst so by doing so I’m complementing knowledge I have gained during my career in terms of networking and telecommunications. You should start by reading about the basic communication protocols, internet protocols, the OSI model, the TCP IP protocol, and all the simbology that CISCO has created that are use as standards around the world. I would start with the OSI model, that should get you going.

    The official exam guide for CCNA would probably be the best place to start. Anything from Cisco Press on the subject, really.
