I have a Cisco 2501 router, and it has an AUX Ethernet interface. What is that interface used for? Also, can I connect that interface to one of my networks that I have? If so, how can I configure that interface?
The AUX port is used to configure remote access. For example, an emergency situation may need you to connect from a point outside your network to repair it. In this case, you would need the aux port connected to an external internet source (such as a modem).

It’s an RS232 port the same as the console port. It is typically used to hook up a modem to allow out-of-band remote configuration.
