I have installed Ubuntu on a partition of my laptop but want to overwright the ubuntu one with kubuntu, how can i do this. I want to keep vista unaffected. Do I remove ubuntu first or what?
Why bother? Kubuntu is just Ubuntu with KDE added. Just install KDE to your Ubuntu partition and you’re done.

You can just over right the partion.
Just pop in the Kubuntu cd and install it.

you don’t have to overwite ubuntu.. it’s like darkridr says, ubuntu is well…ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment, kubuntu is ubuntu with KDE, xubuntu is ubuntu with Xfce desktop environment….
you can transform your ubuntu into kubuntu by downloading KDE, and removing Gnome.. I’m not actually sure how this is done though, and it might just be easier to overwrite the ubuntu partition with a kubuntu install cd.. just see the ubuntuforums.org for a guide to turn ubuntu into kubuntu, or google it.. and I’m sure you’ll see if it’s too complicated or not..
If you wish to simply overwrite, I don’t think there would be any need to remove Ubuntu first, but to be on the safe side you could of course format the ubuntu partition with the Kubuntu CD during the Kubuntu install process, that shouldn’t be too much hassle…
