How much disk space is recommended for Ubuntu? [at] Krizzna™

I want to know how much disk space does Ubuntu 9.10 x64 need to run fastly and smoothly, putting into account that I may need to download packages and install software afterwards.. They say that the minimum is 4 GB, but I know that this wont stand too long after installing software and downloads.

I use around 10-30GB, when i’m dual booting windows as well.

About 6 GB of disk space last time i checked.

I wouldn’t personally run with anything less then 80-100GB these days, unless you got multiple disks. 10gb would be bloated after downloading and installing a few programs.

I would make 2 partitions, one for Ubuntu it self, something like 10 GB and rest of the disk space make like second partition for other download files!

ubuntu itself only needs a few Gigabytes, the rest is used for your personal files. i would create a 10gb partition for ubuntu and software and some more for your home-directory and your downloads.
having more than one partition comes in extremely handy when you want to reinstall your OS
