How do I remove the option to open Ubuntu when I start my computer?

Posted on

I tried Ubuntu with my computer and it didn’t really work. I originally installed it through Windows, then uninstalled it. When I start up my computer, it still asks me if I want to run Ubuntu or Windows. When I click on Ubuntu it says it can’t find or run Ubuntuwinulp or something like that. How do I remove this option from my start up?

If you’re running XP you have to edit your boot.ini file and remove the reference to Ubuntu. Do a search on your main drive for the file and edit it with Notepad. Be very careful otherwise you will render your computer unbootable. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022

With Vista it’s a bit different. I just did one last week and forgot to log it. Click Start -> Run and type MSCONFIG and hit Enter.Set Windows as the default OS. That should clear it up
