    A fantastically imaginative story that appeals to all ages! Every page turn had me thinking, “what could possibly happen next??”, only to be surprised once again. I can’t wait for the next installment!

    Part Harry Potter, part Lord of the Rings, what’s not to like? I got the book yesterday and couldn’t put it down. Though it was written for children, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the characters, the fast pace and the timely moral of the story. Can’t wait for the sequels.

    Oh dear, what is wrong with the many reviews for this book? Although someone more cynical then me might doubt how genuine they are….

    Anyway, Harry Potter proved there is a youthful audience for fantasy pitched at the right level. If one is very clever you can get that rare thing where a book appeals to youngsters and adults alike, such was the magic of Harry Potter. You also get books that sadly will appeal to no-one and this is one such book.

    Here with Oracles of Delphi the author throws all the items which worked for Ms Rowling in the vague hope that the magic will happen authomatically, but a tepid plot, dull writing and tedious characters make this the kind of book that you will struggle to finish. Now I am no youngster, so I gave it to my daughter (who laps up books) and it came back quite quickly with a “are you having a laugh Dad?”

    So I am sorry, but this is a major avoid and the other reviews for this should be treated with a degree of caution, I wish I had looked at them a bit better before I invested time and effort into this.

    While I normally like Victoria Laurie’s books this one kind of reminded me of Mercedes Lackey’s elemental masters books which are also OK. I perfer her other series as they seem to me to be more adult orientated.
